Murial "Elaine" McEntire Wood

Wednesday , May 16, 2018 - 10:00 PM

April 13, 1924 ~ May 8, 2018

On May 8, 2018, it is with joy and sadness, that we said goodbye to our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, as she returned to her Heavenly Father and is welcomed into the loving arms of her husband, Loy, and other family members.

Elaine was born April 13, 1924, to parents Maynard and Esther Rock McEntire; the second of four children. Born in Ogden, Utah, she left at six months old and was raised until the age of 17 in the Monterey/Carmel area of California. She graduated with the first class of Carmel High School.

After returning to Utah, she worked at HAFB where she met the love of her life, Loy J. Wood. They were married October 16, 1943, and later sealed in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. She was a wonderful and loving wife who supported her husband as he served in the military, traveling all over the world. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, holding a variety of callings over her lifetime. Elaine's life was made up of service to all around her. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her four children and their families. She loved playing golf and summers in Flaming George.

She is survived by her children: David (Jari) Wood, Judy (John) Bradley, Mike (Linda) Wood, Sharon (Curtis) Chatelain; 19 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, nine great-great- grandchildren; and a brother, Jim (Beverly) McEntire. She was preceded in death by her husband, Loy; her parents; and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Lindquist's Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. The family will meet with friends from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Clearfield City Cemetery.
